In 1997 John and Geert opened the Garlic Queen: the first garlic restaurant in The Netherlands. Dutch media loved the pioneering concept. And Johannes van Dam, the most famous culinary journalist of the Netherlands, awarded the restaurant with a 9 out of 10. A dream start.
Now, almost 20 years later, the Garlic Queen is still going strong in the Reguliersdwarsstraat. Regular- and new customers find their way to the intimate restaurant in one of the most buzzing streets in Amsterdam. The dishes are prepared with biological products and a lot of love. The most important ingredient, garlic, comes in fresh everyday from Biesheuvel Knoflook Slootdorp, a small village close to Amsterdam.
